Burnett Plaza Assocs. v. NationsBank and FDIC

The Firm represented Burnett Plaza Associates, the landlord of the tallest building in Fort Worth against NationsBank and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).

The matter centered on financial distress experienced by First Republic Bank, which leased substantial space in the Burnett Plaza building. After the FDIC intervened and sold First Republic to NationsBank, Burnett alleged NationsBank breached a long-term lease and used their leverage to abandon the contractual obligations.

Following trial, the court entered a judgment exceeding $110 million, including $80 million in punitive damages against NationsBank.
