Raytheon Company vs. FLIR Systems, Inc.

The Firm defended FLIR’s wholly owned subsidiary, Indigo Systems Corp., against allegations of misappropriating 31 alleged trade secrets related to the production of infrared cameras.

Seeking more than $650 million in damages, Raytheon claimed Indigo leveraged proprietary information to unlawfully gain a competitive advantage. During a 17-day trial, the Firm introduced exhaustive evidence of numerous patents and public disclosures disproving the existence of valid trade secrets.

After only a few hours of deliberation, an 11-person jury unanimously ruled in favor of FLIR, concluding no misappropriation occurred and 27 of the 31 alleged trade secrets were not trade secrets. The verdict resulted in zero damages and was affirmed on appeal.
