National Rifle Association v. Letitia James
The Firm represented the National Rifle Association in multi-year proceedings in defense of a “dissolution case” filed by New York Attorney General, Letitia James.
In August of 2020, Attorney General James filed a “dissolution lawsuit” against the NRA that sought to shut down the Association and seize its assets. After the NRA defeated the “corporate death penalty” claim, James pivoted and sought a court-appointed monitor to oversee the Association.
The court rejected the monitor request in July 2024. The final judgment entered was tailored to compliance and governance measures in the NRA’s interests, including many proposed by the NRA itself. The NRA paid no fines or penalties – in a resounding with for the Association and its millions of members.
