Hollywood Casino Corp., Shreveport v. Lexington Ins. Co.

The case centered on the Hollywood Casino Shreveport, located in Shreveport, Louisiana and owned by the Hollywood Casino Corporation. During construction, the property was damaged by tornadoes and, alleged in the lawsuit, Lexington Insurance Company refused to pay claims of more than $1.1 million under an all-risk policy. The disputed losses included expedited costs incurred to meet opening deadlines, repair expenses, and lost profit due to construction delays.
Following trial, the court entered a $3.4 million judgment against the insurer and also entitled Hollywood Casino to seek additional interest, costs, and attorneys’ fees.
