M Waikiki LLC v. Marriott International

The Firm represented M Waikiki LLC, the owner of a Honolulu, Hawaii resort, in the termination of a long-term hotel management agreement with EDITION, the lifestyle hotel brand of Marriott International and Ian Schrager.

The lawsuit alleged that after the hotel was opened as the first EDITION-branded hotel in late 2010, it suffered from poor occupancy, a brand name with virtually no identity, and Marriott’s failure to control expenses. Alleged losses exceed $1.9 million over a three-month period from May to July.

The Firm guided M Waikiki through the removal of EDITION from the property, the installation of a new management company, and represented the owner as special litigation counsel in bankruptcy.
